The agreement signed between Cadence and ARM boradens the scope of the collaboration. It encompasses ARMv7, ARMv8 and Mali GPU. It allows Cadence to provide tools optimized for the design of SoC based on ARM Cortex-A50 series.
ARM moves to LLVM license type compile for ARMv8. The DS-5 toolsuite will stay in the same price range. It is the network, server and multicore applications which ignited this move. Linaro provides the GCC compiler for ARM today.
This move is actually a complete turnaround for ARM.
