They give examples and trends for each one of the 5 segments. Now, some parts of it are quite worrying: the hugging clothes to replace parental hugging…. This is a tough one.

Imagination Boasts of MIPS-Based Platform for Wearables

Eweek explains how Imagination is providing its MIPS core to Ingenic who designed a tiny SD card sized module called Newton for the IoT wearable segment. The plus of this module is its size: about a one euro coin :-). Another plus is that it is modular. For instance one can decide to add or remove a power management module in order to use the Newton in a plugged in or in a battery powered environment. The market for wearable is expected to be 64 millions units by 2020 according to the analysts from Berg.

Imagination is part of the Android wearable initiative launched by Google. members of the group include ARM, Intel, Qualcomm, Samsung.

The story behind the Motorola smartwatch 360 is talled by its designer. The watch comes out this summer. It does not look like a geek device, it looks elegant and sleek. The biggest challenge faced was the power management. These watches consume a lot and we are not used to plugging in a watch every day.  Clearly the target is not the early adopters. This is the first step of Motorola into the Android wearable space. It is fun to learn throughout this article that the project was planned before competitors even appeared.
