Freescale positions its line of QorlQ SoCs with a complete hardware and software product offer. They want to go into the new trend of software defined networking (SDN). The series of SoCs is provided with C libraries for open standards protocols. The IoT and 5G increases the networking traffic and creates new needs for networking products. The QorlQ LS2 is based on a 64 bit ARM Cortex A57. This SoC encompasses a hardware L2 switch. The C libraries provided implement networking and virtualization libraries. The QorlQ LS2 2085A is based on an eight cores cortex A57 in 28 nm technology. It is aimed at products such as routers, printers, imaging, encryption and compression.
